Education

When you choose Brown County, you’re choosing a school system that has been honored on the state level and nationally for its academic and artistic programs. From excelling in state thespian competitions to competing three years in a row in the national We The People contest in Washington, D.C. — and winning twice — Brown County Schools affords a low student-teacher ratio and a focus on excellence for students of all levels.

Three elementary schools — grades pre-kindergarten to fourth — are scattered to the northeast (Sprunica Elementary), northwest (Helmsburg Elementary) and southern (Van Buren Elementary) regions of the county. The Nashville campus includes the Brown County Intermediate School (grades five and six), Brown County Junior High (grades seven and eight) and Brown County High School (grades nine to 12).

Brown County’s educational opportunities extend to the adult population with services provided by the Brown County Career Resource Center in Nashville. The CRC offers individual counseling and career-related services intended to improve the quality of life and earning potential of all Brown County residents through a lifelong learning program. College credit courses are also offered to provide students pursuing their education a convenient alternative.
