Two-person syrup-making business
Gordon Jones hustled through 17 different careers before settling down in Brown County and using his ingenuity to build a business. For the past 20 years, Jones and Sherrie Yarling have lived on Yarling’s family property and converted shagbark hickory trees into syrup and built a thriving two-person business — Hickoryworks — that caters to more than 300 restaurants nationwide. They’ve used their knack for turning trash into treasures to create a commercial syrup-making kitchen.
